Description
The ankh, often termed the ‘Key of Life’, symbolizes mortal as well as eternal life, and was therefore one of ancient Egypt’s most important icons, offering the prospect of eternity. The djed pillar hieroglyph represented the spine of the god Osiris, and stood for permanence, endurance and stability. Therefore, the combination of the two ensured the powerful concept that the backbone would support life throughout eternity. This ankh composition amulet is a simplified copy of one in the British Museum from the 700BCE-500BCE Temple of Taharqowith, in Nubia; some raised relief detail has been omitted for a cleaner style.
Packaging: Presented in a branded Lychgate green velvet pouch with an attached descriptive kraft hang tag. Packaged in a 4-inch square poly bag, sealed with a round Lychgate sticker.
Designed and hand made in England in fine English pewter. This item is compliant to all jewelry regulations including EU REACH Directives and California Proposition 65.
