As one of the most significant technological breakthroughs for mankind following mastery over fire, the almighty wheel represented power, control and freedom. However, for early man, pagans of course, the infinite cycle of the wheel also symbolized the mystery of the heavens, the seasons and life itself, constantly turning and coming back around. Later, across the western world, fate was believed to be decided by the Wheel of Fortune, epitomised by the revelations of the ubiquitous tarot. While in the Old World, Eurasia, the auspicious Dharma wheel, or Dharmachakra, was always richly associated with the Hindu and Buddhist faiths; as a solar symbol and the eye of the world, variously symbolizing light, wisdom and knowledge, and change induced by the great ‘wheel turner’. Whether that of a simple farmer’s cart or a great god’s chariot, here is a fundamentally primitive representation of the all embracing wheel.
Packaging: Presented in a branded Lychgate green velvet pouch with an attached descriptive kraft hang tag. Packaged in a 4-inch square poly bag, sealed with a round Lychgate sticker.
