Description
A faithful pewter facsimile from the excavation drawings from the time, of a 9th century, bronze amulet of a raven-headed Thor’s Hammer, Mjolnir, discovered at Mandemark on the island of Moen, Denmark in 1878. Such hammer pendants were a common symbol of pagan belief worn by Vikings and Saxons alike in the pre-Christian age, symbolizing the Germanic god Thor, or Tor. Thor was established in Scandinavian mythology well over a thousand years before the birth of Christianity, and was universally venerated by the Northern peoples as the god of storms, strength, protection and fertility.
Packaging: Presented in a branded Lychgate green velvet pouch with an attached descriptive kraft hang tag. Packaged in a 4-inch square poly bag, sealed with a round Lychgate sticker.
Designed and hand made in England in fine English pewter. This item is compliant to all jewelry regulations including EU REACH Directives and California Proposition 65.
