Sator Square

The SATOR square is an ancient, five-word Latin palindrome and magic square and one of the oldest enigmas in the world, its precise origin and meaning remaining a mystery. Found carved into buildings, including entrance ways such as at Pompeii, and used extensively throughout Mediaeval times the square became a general magical protection charm. It was used and carried in many forms as an amulet to attract good fortune and favor, for protection against fire, and a cure for many ailments and injuries including even insanity, as well as a being a general good luck talisman. With the words being read the same forwards, backwards, upwards, and downwards, it was even thought to have been used as a secret Christian cryptogram disguising the words "PATER NOSTER" with A & O representing Alpha & Omega, the Beginning and the End. The five Latin words are: SATOR (sower, planter, founder, or originator) AREPO (an unknown word, possibly a proper name or a non-Latin origin) TENET (he/she/it holds, keeps, comprehends, or masters) OPERA (with care, effort, labor, or service) ROTAS (wheels or a plow)

Packaging: Presented in a branded Lychgate green velvet pouch with an attached descriptive kraft hang tag. Packaged in a 4-inch square poly bag, sealed with a round Lychgate sticker.
