From the earliest pagan times, around 1,000 BC, iron was fabled to have been miraculously extracted from rock and worked into rare artefacts by the blacksmith dwarfs of the underworld. And so, it was believed to possess magical properties and could provide a barrier against evil spirits. Nails, therefore, (like horse shoes), being wrought of iron were lucky and could make convenient personal amulets. This pewter replica of a Medieval, forged rose-head nail has, in addition, been reinforced by the incision of the powerful pagan Norse/Viking bind-rune for protection, Algiz/Sowulo.
Packaging: Presented in a branded Lychgate green velvet pouch with an attached descriptive kraft hang tag. Packaged in a 4-inch square poly bag, sealed with a round Lychgate sticker.
Designed and hand made in England in fine English pewter. This item is compliant to all jewelry regulations including EU REACH Directives and California Proposition 65.
